AVON CASTLE

A once-tired bungalow in a prestigious, secluded setting was reimagined as a contemporary home that responds sensitively to its wooded hillside site. Stacked timber-clad volumes create a sculptural form while capturing expansive views towards the River Avon below.

Large areas of glazing to the rear immerse the interiors in the surrounding landscape, while the front elevation remains discreet and private. A monolithic stone wall anchors the building to the site and rises through its full height, creating a dramatic double-height entrance space.

The design culminates in a timber-clad third-floor pod housing the principal bedroom suite, where panoramic views unfold through the treetops across the verdant landscape and towards the river beyond.
